About Us
Paxton Associates are independent mortgage advisers based in Tunbridge Wells. We help clients find and arrange their mortgages, providing a personal at home' service within reasonable travelling distance from Tunbridge Wells and a telephone/postal/internet service anywhere else in the UK, or anywhere in the world for that matter.
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, and are also licensed by the DTI Office of Fair Trading under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
The UK mortgage market is very large and diverse around 140 lenders and over 7,000 mortgages and many schemes are not to be found on the high street or even the internet as they are only available through professional mortgage specialists. We design the mortgage structure and carry out all the research for you, giving you our recommendations. We carefully select a mortgage to fit your needs by asking for relevant information about your circumstances and objectives using a detailed mortgage factfind, and our advice will also depend on market conditions at the time. The reasons for recommendation will be given to you in writing before you complete any mortgage.
We regularly review the mortgage market as a whole in order to select the appropriate lenders to meet individual circumstances and use lenders who consistently provide a competitive product range and high standard of service. We will also provide you with information relevant to your mortgage needs, covering such items as an explanation of the main repayment methods and the implications of taking out a mortgage. However, we do not advise on financial investments or give other financial advice.
When you give the go ahead', we will confirm our advice in writing and you should keep this, as it will be a record of the transaction. The full details of the mortgage will be contained in the lender's formal offer of a loan, and enclosures.
We will treat all your personal information as private and confidential, even if you are no longer a customer. It will not be disclosed to anyone - other than at your request or with your consent, where we are legally compelled to do so, where there is a duty to the public to disclose, or where our interests require disclosure. You have the right of access under the Data Protection Act 1998 to your personal records held on our files.
The Financial Services Authority regulates the mortgage and insurance industries. As part of their duties they may ask us to provide them with access to our client records in order that they may carry out an audit of our activities
